CAPTURE-XT explained
- Uses dielectrophoresis ‘DEP’ to selectively capture and concentrate target particles (such as bacterial cells), based on the physical properties of the target, such as size and composition.
- Can be applied to almost any target type, from macromolecules to circulating tumour cells, effectively removing contaminating cells, debris and inhibitors.
- Preserves cell viability; cells can continue to metabolise and even undergo division while held in the capture fields.

Sample cleanup and pathogen concentration
CAPTURE-XT cleans up samples and concentrates target microorganisms for:
- Visual inspection
- Culture
- Molecular analysis
Applied to Mycobacterium tuberculosis from sputum samples, CAPTURE-XT can:
- Capture tubercule bacilli for visual analysis as an alternative to sputum smear microscopy.
- Provide a concentrated and purified sample for:
- Molecular analysis
- Culture & drug susceptibiity testing
Future development
CAPTURE-XT’s dielectrophoretic technology can be applied to:
- Other targets such as different microorganisms, viruses, human cells (including circulating tumour cells) or macromolecules.
- Other sample types, including urine and blood.
QuantuMDx intends to develop the CAPTURE-XT platform to be compatible with a broad range of targets and sample matrices.
