QuantuMDx Showcases Q-POC and TB-Host Immune Response Assay at ESCMID Global 2024

QuantuMDx recently attended ESCMID Global (27 – 30 April 2024), previously known as ECCMID, bringing both the Q-POC and the British weather to Barcelona. ESCMID Global 2024 brought together experts in clinical microbiology, infectious diseases, infection prevention and control and public health.

  • Over 700 abstracts were submitted
  • More than 16,000 delegates were registered
  • There were in excess of 100 sessions held, including keynote lectures, scientific symposia and meet-the-expert sessions.

Q-POC on display

Q-POC, the rapid, multiplex PCR platform, was on display at the Sansure Biotech stand. The booth was visited by many delegates who were able to receive a personalised demo of the Q-POC and discuss its future pipeline of molecular test panels.

Current and future partnerships

ESCMID Global proved an ideal opportunity for the QuantuMDx team to speak with current and potential collaborators. This included exploring possible future applications for the Q-POC and partnering to develop rapid, automated and novel assays for use at the Point of Care.

TB-Host Immune Response Assay

As well as the Q-POC, visitors were also keen to talk about the QuantuMDx TB Host Immune Response Assay, a single multiplexed RT-qPCR test for measuring mRNA transcripts, in whole blood samples, that are associated with TB infection. Development of a cassette-based TB-HIRA for Q-POC is underway so that TB diagnosis and treatment monitoring can be accessed at the Point of Care.

The team attended many talks to discover the latest advances in medical diagnostics and initiatives to fight antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Recent work by QuantuMDx in TB diagnostics was mentioned at the afternoon symposium on Sunday 28 April (13.30-15.30). The fascinating talk by Dr Delia Goletti discussed new diagnostic and treatment interventions for tuberculosis based on the immune response and QuantuMDx are proud to have featured in this presentation alongside other exciting developments.

Personal highlights from the Congress

“ESCMID Global gave us an opportunity to meet face-to-face with our esteemed collaborators in Barcelona. Over lunch, we discussed the unusual weather conditions, an important football match and plans for working together for the remainder of 2024 and beyond. Virtual meetings are functional but nothing can replace genuine conversation around a dinner table”

Carolyne Horner, Medical Scientific Liaison

“A lack of Spanish sunshine could not dampen the mood in the busy exhibition hall, poster sessions and talks. Many meetings took place with old and new collaborators and the Sansure Booth, which hosted the Q-POC, was always busy, including many demos. ESCMID is still one of the top conferences/tradeshows in our industry’s calendar and this year, once again, did not disappoint.”

Dr Jonathan Peat, Head of Strategic Business Development

“Delighted to have attended ESCMID Global 2024 in Barcelona. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet up with current and future partners, collaborators and colleagues, as well as catching up on the latest innovations and developments in diagnostics for infectious diseases and AMR.”

Jonathan Curry, Product Director

“It was great to be in Barcelona to meet with colleagues and new customers who appreciate that the Q-POC is best in class at speed, simplicity of use and portability. A brief walk around the booths in the Expo confirmed that and confirmed how exciting the molecular point of care market is becoming.”
